Steve Berczuk - Senior Software Engineer at FAST
 Date: May 25, 2006 - 4:00 PM
 Track: Agile Business
 [Jump to this session]

Session Abstract: A key aspect to delivering applications consistently is software application integration. We work with teams to do more work than a single person can accomplish, but more than one person on a project means that integration can be more difficult. It is best that your team integrates their work frequently, and deploys working software often. The challenge when doing frequent integration is avoiding bottlenecks caused by someone breaking the build. This session will show you how to balance integration and safety so that your team can identify application integration issues quickly and deliver working software more reliably.

Speaker BioSteve Berczuk is a Senior Software Engineer at FAST where he develops software for search applications. Steve is co-author of the book Software Configuration Management Patterns: Effective Teamwork, Practical Integration. He also co-writes the Agile SCM column for the Configuration Management Journal at CM Crossroads.

Steve has been developing object-oriented software applications since 1989, working with both startups and more established companies. In addition to developing software, he helps teams use software configuration management (SCM) effectively in the development process. Steve is a Certified Scrummaster.

He holds an M.S. in Operations Research from Stanford University and an S.B. in Electrical Engineering from MIT. His Web site is
